Massage Therapy

The practice of Massage Therapy by definition is the assessment of the soft tissue and joints of the body and the treatment and prevention of physical dysfunction and pain of the soft tissues and joints by manipulation to develop, maintain, rehabilitate or relieve pain.

Not all massages are created equal...

Massage therapy can be light with soothing and gentile manipulations to quite deep using more aggressive techniques.    Sessions include an assessment, treatment, home care exercises and an  invoice for your records. The posted rates below are the most popular treatments lengths. Your cost depends on the length of your treatment.

Below is a brief description of some different types of Massage Therapy that are available here at Lakeside Massage Therapy & Healthcare.

Deep Tissue Massage

Focuses on the deeper layer of muscles and fascia and is more beneficial for chronic pain. These session usually require more time as the rate of technique application is longer and sustained.

Relaxation Massage

Sports Massage

Focused session with a specific area or injury treated. An example would include lower leg treatment for shin splints from excessive running. These treatments tend to require several sessions and clients are given stretching programs to follow in order to achieve their expected goals .

Prenatal/Pregnancy Massage

These treatments can be general or full body treatments depending on the length.  It is common for lower back and lower limb focus.   All pregnancies are different and unique.

We use a premium pregnancy pillow for full support and are able to perform the treatments in a faced down position.

Shiatsu Massage/ Acupressure

Shiatsu Massage is an alternative technique that involves manual pressure applied to specific body points in an attempt to relieve tension and pain. This Japanese healing technique uses thumbs, fingers, elbows, and knees to concentrate pressure to certain energy pathways in the body called meridians. Shiatsu, also known as acupressure, works to reduce muscle tension and fatigue, improve blood circulation and promote lymphatic flow.

Thai Yoga Massage

Eastern Ayurvedic approach to muscle therapy combines pressure techniques with deep  yoga stretches performed by the therapist.  This is an invigorating technique that increases flexibility and decreases muscle pain.
